Foodstuffs

Sponsorship

Foodstuffs has been a long-time supporter of national charity CanTeen through the pams brand, and is now helping the young netballers of the future hone their skills through New World's Elite sponsorship of Netball New Zealand, including the Silver Ferns. In addition our owner-operators support a range of community groups throughout the country.

  • Food For Thought

Food for Thought is a free nutrition education programme sponsored by pams to help Year 5 and 6 primary school students (9 -10 year olds) make healthier food and lifestyle choices. It is a community based initiative, designed and developed by nutritionists and teachers working in with the New Zealand Health and Physical Education curriculum. Part of the learning experience includes a supermarket visit to either a PAK'nSAVE, New World, Write Price, Four Square or Shoprite supermarket, where children apply classroom learning to an interactive setting. Children learn how to read nutrition labels, compare the nutritional benefits of products, and learn about allergy awareness. For further information, contact the Foodstuffs head office in your region or visit the Food for Thought website.

  • Netball New Zealand

Foodstuffs' New World brand is the Elite sponsor of Netball New Zealand. The sponsorship arrangement includes the Silver Ferns, as well as the national age group representative teams - the New Zealand Under 21's and the NZ Secondary Schools team. A key component, and probably the most visible one of the sponsorship, is the exclusive naming rights to any International Test Series played in New Zealand each year. The sponsorship has also allowed for New World to be a support sponsor of the National Championships and community netball which has been an excellent springboard for many of our individual owner operators to get involved with grass roots netball in their local community. • Canteen

pams is proud to be a major sponsor of CanTeen which provides support for teenagers living with cancer. Foodstuffs have supported CanTeen for more than six years on a company-wide level through their annual Bandanna Week. For more information visit CanTeen and the pams websites.

  • Community Groups Sponsorship

As our stores are locally owned and operated, there is a true commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate. Many of our owner operators play key community roles, from being among towns' largest employers, to contributing to the community in many ways donating both time and money to local organisations. Each year, our owner-operators donate thousands of dollars in groceries to local schools, sporting groups, community and church groups, and other not-for-profit organisations.

Sponsorship enquiries: All requests from community groups need to be made in writing directly to the operator of the local store/s.

Four Square

Four Square

The local Four Square has grown to become one of New Zealand's most iconic identities and, as Foodstuffs' first grocery store, it's the organisation's heritage brand. Four Square stores range from the small neighbourhood shop in larger towns and cities, perfect for picking up last minute ingredients for dessert or dinner; to the larger grocery store in rural and provincial regions that services its community's everyday shopping needs. There are now 282 Four Square stores across the country.

News

New World Kaiapoi

Foodstuffs South Island is very disappointed to advise that due to the severe nature of the damage which has resulted from the earthquake, New World Kaiapoi will not be re-opening and will need to be re-built. Understandably, this is an incredibly distressing time for the local owners, Andrew and Jacqui Palmer, and their staff. The supermarket currently has 34 full time and 52 part time staff employed who will all be affected.
