Foodstuffs South Island Ltd. would like to reassure both Christchurch and wider South Island residents that its supply chains are operating efficiently. Shipments of essential food and water, as well as stores' everyday ranges, are flowing freely through delivery channels and into the distribution centres and supermarkets.
Foodstuffs South Island CEO Steve Anderson says, "We are committed to feeding Christchurch and wider South Island residents, and are successfully managing to do this during these challenging times.
"We are, however, experiencing some understandable staff shortages due to the earthquake in Christchurch. We encourage any Foodstuffs distribution or supermarket staff member who is able to make it back in to work to get in touch so we can continue to support our communities. However we do understand that our team members' first priority should be for their families. "We urge customers to please refrain from 'panic buying' as food and water are constantly being delivered to stores. We need to ensure that we have enough stock at any one time for the community's immediate needs."
