Community Funding
Our HereforNZ Community Fund is an annual grant programme established to support a broad range of community organisations delivering impactful, local initiatives which align to our HereforNZ principles and contribute to reducing food insecurity across Aotearoa.
Foodstuffs is proudly 100% Kiwi owned and operated, with deep roots in communities across Aotearoa. Each store is led by a local owner-operator and supported by dedicated local teams who are passionate about serving their communities. We are committed to making a meaningful and positive difference in our communities by delivering on our social promises.

Applications for the HereforNZ Community Fund open annually in September for one month to organisations that meet the following criteria:
• Registered New Zealand charities
• Delivering activities within the North Island
• Projects or initiatives that align with HereforNZ promises and support the delivery of our annual funding priorities
The HereforNZ Community Fund supports projects and initiatives that align with one or more of our HereforNZ promises:

We focus our efforts on supporting activities that deliver measurable community outcomes towards:
• Reducing food insecurity
• Enabling access to healthy and nutritious kai
• Promoting sustainability through education, knowledge sharing and skill development
• Reducing food waste in our stores and local communities
• Supporting local communities to thrive
Funding is available across three categories:


If your funding request is smaller in nature or falls outside our annual funding round, we encourage you to connect with your local PAK’nSAVE, New World or 4 Square store to explore support opportunities through our Local Store Giving Programme.

HereforNZ is committed to backing initiatives that create meaningful outcomes for local communities. To apply for support, please share some details about your project or initiative, the community need you are addressing and how your mahi aligns with our HereforNZ promises and funding priorities.

Nga mihi nui for your incredible contribution to our communities. To help us capture and share the impact of our shared mahi, we would be grateful if you could provide a few brief details about the difference the Herefornz Community Fund has made to your mahi and our community.
Please submit an Impact Report within 90 days of completing your funded project or initiative, or provide a project update by 30th April, whichever comes first.
